America SCORES Atlanta

Since it began in 2006, America SCORES Atlanta has provided a high-quality after-school program that inspires urban youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.

America SCORES Atlanta is an affiliate of America SCORES, whose innovative curriculum of soccer, poetry, and service-learning has been shown to improve students’ health, academic achievement, and civic engagement.

	SCORES participants annually engage in more than 100 hours of physical activity through soccer and other games, more than 10X more activity than other kids their age.
	Each year, we take 2 students to New York City to perform in a national poetry SLAM!  Pictured here: Zaccheus at the top of the Empire State building.
	America SCORES Atlanta is FREE to program participants.  All monies are raised locally, at events such as our annual SCORES Cup adult soccer tournament.  Pictured here: North Avenue Presbyterian Church’s 2011 team
	Through a partnership with ASCAP, SCORES students are paired each year with a songwriter/producer; together they write and record a song.  Pictured here: students with artist Psalm One in the studio in October 2011.
	Each year, our students spend more than 75 hours in poetry workshops, learning to express themselves on paper and refining their writing skills.
