The Event

The Red Carpet Poetry Slam is America SCORES Chicago’s annual gala fundraiser event. The Red Carpet Slam celebrates the year’s success while raising the support which allows America SCORES to continue offering its free after-school programming to Chicago Public School students. Mingle with America SCORES supporters and stakeholders at a cocktail reception, and peruse our silent auction selection.

The Poetry
The Red Carpet Slam features original performances by select 3rd-8th grade poet-athletes, chosen based on their performance at November’s Community Poetry Slam and their commitment throughout the year.  From there, two poets will earn the right to go to America SCORES’ National Poetry Slam in New York City.

The Calliope Award
Each year America SCORES recognizes select community members with the Calliope Award, honoring them for using their voice, resources, and talents to make an impact on America SCORES and the communities we serve.

This year’s honorees include Coach Across America and the Chicago Park District. Past Honorees include The CPS Community Schools Initiative, Coach Ernie Alvarez, soccer star Julie Foudy, UofC Lab School Coach Mike Moses, and the Chicago Fire Foundation.

Get geared up for the event by watching some video of last year’s student performances.
