America SCORES Cleveland provides unique after-school programming for youth in nine Cleveland public schools, teaching soccer, creative writing, and service-learning to measurably improve fitness, literacy, and community engagement. America SCORES’ innovative tri-curricular approach effectively demonstrates to young people how physical activity, creativity, and teamwork promote a sound body, mind, and heart.

Over the course of the 2011-2012 school year, our poet-athletes will:

• Engage in 75 hours of poetry workshops, refining their creative and expository writing skills, and developing a positive attitude towards school.
• Engage in 100 hours of soccer and health workshops, improving their physical fitness and participating in 10 times the amount of exercise of kids in their age group.
• Volunteer over 1500 service hours to benefit their community.
