Jon Lutz
Board Chair
Jon Lutz is the CFO for EA Sports. Electronic Arts is the world’s leading interactive entertainment software company, most well-know for EA Sports titles such as FIFA soccer or Madden football. Jon has been with Electronic Arts for nine years, in rolls spanning the studio, publishing, online and corporate divsions, across the UK, San Francisco, LA and Vancouver. Prior to Electronic Arts, Jon spent two years with Procter & Gamble where he worked in the European cosmetics and fragrances business. Jon holds an MA in Natural Science from Christ’s College, Cambridge University in the UK. Jon has been playing soccer since his school days and still enjoys playing in the EA Sports soccer league. As the former CFO for EA in Los Angeles, Jon formed the EALA Premiership soccer league in 2002/2003, which is where he met Alex Soschin, the America SCORES LA Program Director. Under Jon’s leadership, EA has since become a key sponsor of the America SCORES LA program, both financially and operationally. Jon joined the America SCORES LA board in summer 2006, and has contributed to the strategic growth plans and direction-setting for America SCORES, in addition to continuing to promote programs with EA. Jon continues to be an active member of the America SCORES LA board despite the fact he relocated to Vancouver, Canada in September 2006.
Tisha Kimoto
Board Member
Tisha Kimoto is a District Manager for Starbucks Coffee Company. A longtime partner at Starbucks, Ms. Kimoto has been involved with America SCORES LA since 2002, when she coordinated volunteers for our first ever Jamboree at the Rose Bowl. Since that time, Ms. Kimoto has coordinated volunteers for all 8 Jamborees, recruiting more than 170 Starbucks Partners to come out and lend their time and energy to America SCORES LA. In addition to this event, she has captained SCORES Cup Teams for Starbucks. And in 2010, Ms. Kimoto led in a marketing/outreach campaign that partners America SCORES LA with 90 Starbucks stores to help our organization recruit volunteers and increase brand awareness. A college-soccer player, Ms. Kimoto brings an organization to detail and a passion volunteerism and community activism to the America SCORES LA Board of Directors.
Alexi Lalas
Board Memeber
Alexi Lalas is an American soccer legend who has distinguished himself on and off the playing field. One of the most decorated soccer players in US history, Alexi quickly evolved into one of the most innovative executives in Major League Soccer. Following stints as the GM in San Jose and New York, Alexi returned to Los Angeles (where he also starred as a player) and instantly made his mark serving as President and GM from 2006-2008 when the Galaxy engineered the groundbreaking deal that brought English star David Beckham to America in 2007. An Olympian in 1992 and 1996, Alexi also competed in the World Cup in 1994 and 1998, and in 1995 was named the US Soccer Athlete of the Year. A member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame and a five-time MLS All-Star, Alexi led the Galaxy to three separate Championship titles during his tenure as a player here. But Alexi’s impact on American soccer continues to go well beyond his accomplishments on the field or in the front office, as he currently sits on the Board of Advisors for the U.S. Soccer Federation’s Grants Committee and the Athletes Council. In addition, Alexi served on the Board of Advisors for the FIFA Women’s World Cup and in 2004 he joined the national advisory board for the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Tom Payne
Board Member
Tom Payne is the President of the LA GALAXY MLS Soccer Club. He enters his seventh season with the club and his first full season as the Galaxy’s President of Business Operations. In this role, Mr. Payne oversees all facets of the Galaxy front office, including corporate partnerships, ticket sales, marketing, programming, communications, operations, and community development. Additionally, Mr. Payne played a pivotal role in the rebranding and transition of the club upon the arrival of David Beckham in July 2007. In addition to his professional success, Mr. Payne has a true passion for philanthropy as shown through his involvement with the Galaxy Foundation and the many grassroots initiatives they have throughout Los Angeles.
Heather O’ Reilly
Board Member
Heather O’ Reilly is a member of the United States Women’s National Team. Already a veteran with the national team at age 23, Ms. O’ Reilly led the University of North Carolina Women to their 18th National Championship in 2007 and garnered the Most Valuable Player Award along the way. In addition to her third title in 4 years, 2007 capped an incredible year for Ms. O’ Reilly, as she earned a bronze medal at the 2007 World Cup, won the prestigious Honda-Broderick Award, All-American Honors, NCAA Top VIII Award (for athletic and academic achievements), and was nominated for Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year. Ms. O’ Reilly has been a member of the WNT since 2002, and she now has 79 caps for the US Women. In March, she helped the US Women win the Algarve Cup in Denmark in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games. An Olympic Gold Medalist in 2004, O’ Reilly’s quarterfinal goal in overtime catapulted the US Women into the Olympic Final. An education major at UNC, Ms. O’ Reilly’s #20 was officially retired on Feb. 24th, 2008. Ms. O’ Reilly has a tremendous passion for working with kids and helping them reach their potential on and off the soccer field. She has been a long-time supporter of America SCORES LA and America SCORES and continues define herself as a role model for kids all across the country.
Dana Schumacher
Board Member
Dana Schumacher is an attorney for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. Prior to her work with LAFLA, she worked for California Lawyers for the Arts, where her work was highlighted by her impact in the area of community outreach and law student recruitment. Ms. Schumacher brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the America SCORES LA Board of Directors. A former program manager of the after-school program FACES in Pittsburgh, Dana helped FACES develop after-school and summer programs for at-risk children in Pittsburgh. In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors for Bloomfield Garfield Corporation, Eastside Alliance, Friendship Academy Parent School Community Council, Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer Association. On the soccer side of things, Ms. Schumacher is a soccer player and the mother of three soccer playing daughters (2 who played at Division 1 schools). She coached soccer for 10 years for the Pittsburgh Dynamo Youth Soccer Association and began working with America SCORES LA as a volunteer soccer coach before agreeing to join the Board of Directors. She has a BA from the University of Iowa and a law degree from the People’s College of Law.
David Shaheen
Board Member
David Shaheen is a Vice President at JPMorgan in the Corporate Investment Banking group. Mr. Shaheen joined JPMorgan in 1993, and recently expanded his responsibilities beyond his position as a senior member of the firm’s Entertainment Industries Group in Los Angeles. As part of the Entertainment team for 11 years, Mr. Shaheen specialized in highly structured financings and advisory assignments for intellectual property / content and distribution companies, globally. Currently, Mr. Shaheen is responsible for corporate investment banking for the firm’s broad range of entertainment clients, and is also focused on transaction execution for west coast based companies covering a variety of industries. Mr. Shaheen holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and a BA in Economics from Boston College, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He lives with his wife, Stacie and son, Benjamin, in Los Angeles, California.
Ronald Sittler
Board Member
Ronald Sittler is a Partner at the distinguished law firm Blank Rome LLP. He
focuses his practice in the areas of business litigation, lender liability, business fraud, unfair business practices and complex contract disputes. Mr. Sittler has a longtime passion for philanthropy, and in particular, for helping children obtain opportunities. He previously worked with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and helped bring inner-city kids to baseball games. In addition, he is a 4-time participant in the SCORES Cup Soccer Tournament, having captained the his teams for the past four years.
John Weinerth
Board Member
John Weinerth is the Chief Executive Officer for California Youth Soccer Association -South (Cal South) and is a founding Board Member of America SCORES LA. Mr. Weinerth within this capacity is responsible for all governance, strategic planning, corporate partnerships, P&L, membership development and management oversight. Within his tenure, John has established landmark corporate agreements with the likes of Nike, Fox & Best Western, solidified the Soccer Nation Expo property as the largest soccer family expo in the United States and increased membership by 10 percent bringing Cal South to represent over 110,000 southern California youth players. Prior to joining Cal South, Mr. Weinerth has spent several years working in sports marketing specializing in NFL retail promotions, and facility management for a company focused on the development of hockey & indoor soccer complexes. He received a B.A. in Business Administration from Saint Bonaventure University and has a Masters degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University.
Paul A. Carr-Rollitt
Legal Counsel
Paul A. Carr-Rollitt is a partner in the Health Law Department at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. His practice is focused on corporate transactional and regulatory representation in the health care industry, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, public and private securities offerings, charitable organizations and general corporate matters. Mr. Carr-Rollitt’s clients include investment banks, health systems, hospitals and health care facilities, e-health and biotechnology companies, and nonprofit entities. Mr. Carr-Rollitt is admitted to the California bar and was previously associated with the Canadian law firm of Siskind, Cromarty, Ivey & Dowler in London, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Carr-Rollitt received his bachelor’s degree with honors in sociology from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada in 1992. In 1996, he received his LLB from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
