We are always looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to join our team. Here are some ways you can get involved with our program.

ASSISTANT WRITING COACH

Join a teacher at an urban public school to teach 3rd through 5th graders poetry each fall and to become agents of change in their communities with the Writing For the Community each spring. The commitment can range from once every other week to twice a week for an hour and half each session. You will build relationships with 15 boys or girls, help them enhance their literacy skills and empower them to impact the world around them.

ASSISTANT SOCCER COACH

Join a teacher at an urban public school to teach 3rd through 5th graders teamwork, sportsmanship and soccer skills the commitment can range from once a week to three times a week for an hour and a half each session. You will build relationships with 15 boys or girls and help them learn life skills through the great team sport of soccer.

GAME DAY REFEREE

Come be a referee at our weekly Friday Game Days! Each week, teams from each SCORES elementary school gather to play each other in a fun, relaxed environment. The games are 8 v. 8 with simplified rules. You don’t need to be a soccer expert or have previous experience. All you need is a desire to have fun with some great kids! Commitment is for one hour once a week.

TEAM MANAGER

Join a SCORES team as a manager! Bring oranges at half time, cupcakes for after the game and cheer on your players! We ask for a commitment of at least four games. This is great way to impact the lives of LA’s urban youth in a fun and supportive environment.

GUEST SPEAKER

Come speak to a group of kids who are learning how they can have a positive impact on their community. Share your life experiences and encourage them to dream big and work towards their goals. Share soccer, poetry and community service ideas and become part of these kids lives!

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEER

Fall Frenzy! Youth SLAM! SHOUT! JAMBOREE! Game Days! Volunteer at any of our many community and fundraising events. We can always use more people and your help will make a huge difference!

SCORES INFRASTRUCTURE

Help our office be more efficient. Lend any professional skills or services to help increase productivity and organization.
