America SCORES New York strives to empower students in urban communities using soccer, writing, creative expression, and service-learning. With teamwork as the unifying value, America SCORES New York inspires youth to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and become agents of change in their communities.

For the 2010-2011 school year, our America Scores New York poet-athletes:

■ Received 10x the amount of exercise of kids in their age group.
■ Engaged in more than 60 hours of poetry workshops, improving their creative and expository writing skills, and demonstrating a positive attitude towards schools and the school community.
■ Engaged in more than 60 hours of physical activity through soccer and health games.

Our Spring Season starts in March! We will resume soccer and poetry programming five days per week for 65 students in West Harlem. Let us know if you’d like to join us for a gameday or our Jamboree Shout celebration in June!
