National Poetry Slam

Congratulations to Eddie and Milla, our National Slam participants!

Each spring, America SCORES hosts the National Poetry Slam in New York to celebrate the accomplishments of each affiliate’s poet-athletes. Two students from each city are selected for an all-expenses paid trip to New York City. This year, America SCORES Seattle selected Dunlap Elementary student Eddie Edwards and Emerson Elementary student Milla Espinoza. They performed their original poetry in front of an audience of hundreds, held this year at the New York Stock Exchange last April 19th. They also raised the most money at a National Slam in America SCORES history, $180,000!

The new poet-athletes will be selected closer to December to go to next year’s 2011 National Slam in New York. Keep up the hard work!
