“Students witnessed their poetry brought to life through art.”
An innovative fundraising event put on by several different SCORES programs, Inspired Art gives local artists an opportunity to donate their work for an auction that supports SCORES poet-athletes. America SCORES Cleveland recently hosted their annual Inspired Art event, which is recapped below by Communications and Development Associate Melissa Santorelli. America SCORES Cleveland
America SCORES Cleveland hosted their fourth Inspired Art event at smARTspace at 78th Street Studios on Saturday, June 10th. The silent auction featured nearly 50 pieces of original artwork that ranged from painting and sculpture, to photography and jewelry.
The artwork, created and donated by local Cleveland artists, was inspired by the poetry of Cleveland youth. At the benefit auction, students witnessed their visions brought to life through art, and artists experienced the poetry on a deeper level as select youth performed.
Over 200 artists, sponsors, and supporters were in attendance for this evening of creativity. Guests were treated to a fun night of music, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and poetry performances. Also included was the live auction of three pieces of artwork, and the opportunity to sponsor a poet-athlete at various levels.
The event raised $45,000, with all proceeds benefiting more than 1,000 Cleveland students who participate in America SCORES’ soccer and creative writing programming.
